Enzo Maresca has already praised one Chelsea player in talks with directors

Pending new Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has reportedly already been praising one of his pending new players in his squad whilst holding talks with Chelsea’s directors out in Marbella this week.

Maresca looks set to soon be confirmed as the new Chelsea head coach, making the move from Leicester City who he helped get promoted to the Premier League last season.

Sources: Chelsea’s interest in Ivan Toney – the latest!

Maresca’s appointment has been met with fear at least from the majority of the Chelsea fan base, with serious concerns over his lack of experience.

But it seems Chelsea’s decision makers have a lot of belief in the young manager and really like the style of football that he plays, so they are ready to take the very big risk on him.

One thing that has already been reported is that Maresca will want to bring in a new goalkeeper at Chelsea, just as he did as soon as he arrived at Leicester. He likes his stopper to be very good with the ball at their feet, playing as a sweeper keeper and being able to pick out an inch perfect pass with build up from the back.

Petrovic praised

Chelsea have Djordje Petrovic and Robert Sanchez as their two choices for goalkeeper right now, but there are doubts whether either of them will fit that profile of being top ball-playing goalkeepers.

They spent last season fighting for the number one spot at the club, with Sanchez having it to begin with, then getting injured, and losing it to Petrovic who pretty much earned that spot come the end.

Maresca has already praised Petrovic in talks with the Chelsea sporting directors in Marbella this week, according to journalist Ben Jacobs. So you’d assume that means that if any of the two keepers are to be moved out to make way for a new one then it is likely to be Sanchez at this point.
