The plan has always been to sit down at the end of season to discuss the 52-year-old’s future and that was made clear when he joined the club.

Pochettino has faced criticism from the fans for large parts of the season with many wanting to see the former Tottenham manager replaced.

In the away game at Brentford there were chants against him from the travelling Chelsea fans, but the perception around him seems to changing as the form improves.

Pochettino has really turned things around at Chelsea.

Ahead of the end of season review The Guardian reports the Argentine has the support of prominent figures at the club who believe the best thing to do would be to keep him on.

The reports also adds there are some members who are undecided, but any move to replace the manager would require a unanimous decision from Todd Boehly and Clearlake, who would have to sign off on Pochettino’s departure.

It remains to be seen of course what the ownership decides to do but there’s believed to be a growing feeling he will remain at Stamford Bridge next season.

However, The Guardian also add the club were believed to be heading towards sacking Pochettino prior to this upturn in form.

Since Boxing day only Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool have taken more points the Blues, who have moved into the top six.

A top six finish and two trips to Wembley with all the circumstances take into account would represent progress and Pochettino would deserve another season to continue his work, with the team really showing what they are capable of at the back end of the season.
