Report suggests Enzo Maresca will look for a new goalkeeper at Chelsea

It looks like Chelsea are about to hire Leicester City manager Enzo Maresca as their new head coach moving forward after parting ways with Mauricio Pochettino last week.

It’s been a very busy week since that news came out, but it looks like Chelsea are now very close to replacing Pochettino already, with Maresca set to come in.

Sources: Chelsea target TWO Crystal Palace players for a move THIS summer!

It’s safe to say that he has not been a popular choice amongst the majority of the Chelsea fan base, with many concerns being raised. There is no doubt in my mind that this is a MASSIVE risk, a risk that could truly come back to bite the decision makers at the club.

Maresca has never managed in the Premier League and lacks any real coaching experience. He got Leicester promoted back to the Premier League of course, but there was moments last season where even their fans were on his back as it looked like at one point they were going to bottle the stronghold they had on that league.

Chelsea fans have a right to feel concerned with this appointment.

Sounds like he might want a new goalkeeper

If Maresca to Chelsea is confirmed as expected, it sounds like he might well want to sign a new goalkeeper.

According to The Daily Mail, Maresca is known as someone keen to have a goalkeeper who can act as a playmaker by placing the ball wherever it is needed, much like Ederson at City.

There’s huge doubts over the ball-playing of current goalkeepers Robert Sanchez and Djordje Petrovic, so this would suggest that Maresca might need a new ball-playing stopper added to the ranks if he wants what is described in the above report.

I don’t think you can place Sanchez or Petrovic in that category at the moment, but there’s room for improvement.
