Enzo Maresca is about to be appointed as the new Chelsea manager. That’s something we’re all getting used to, but it would have shocked to hear that a week ago when Mauricio Pochettino was still in a job.
The ESPN crew ran the rule over the appointment, a tricky one for fans to swallow and one that those on the show struggled to get their head around. He said there was no reason to appoint such an inexperienced coach, with “absolutely no real CV.”
Former Liverpool defender Steve Nicol couldn’t understand the downgrade from the former Spurs boss to a man who has managed just one full club season – in the Championship. This new trend in football is blowing a few minds.
“They can’t think outside the box and he’s worked for Pep,” was how Craig Burley summed it up. That’s cutting but a lot of Chelsea fans are saying the same thing right now.

These so called experts / pundits, will have egg on their faces after Maresca improves Chelsea next season. He had an immediate impact at Leicester and the players loved his coaching & playing style.
