Most sources are reporting that Chelsea are preparing to announce Enzo Maresca as their new manager later today, after a few days of intense negotiation with Leicester securing the coach’s release.
Why do Chelsea want Maresca? It’s a question many Chelsea fans have asked themselves in recent days, and it’s one that Sky Sports pundit Kaveh Solhekol attempted to answer in a long segment today.
Quite clearly just echoing what he’s been briefed by the ownership, Solhekol starts by noting how impressed they were with the “breadth and depth of his knowledge of the Chelsea squad.”
We’re not sure what the difference between those things is in this context, but anyway…
Ultimately, Chelsea have changed from a coach who has taken a team to the Champions League final to one who has managed one Championship season. You’ll need more than 5 minutes to explain the context behind that move.
