“We will know soon” – David Ornstein speaks out on Chelsea’s plans for new manager

The Athletic’s David Ornstein says ‘we will know soon’ on who will be replacing Mauricio Pochettino as the next Chelsea head coach after the Argentine agreed to mutually part ways with the club yesterday.

It was a chaotic evening in the wonderful world of Chelsea last night with it all kicking off from around 7pm UK time. After that, everything started unfolding and then Chelsea put their official statement out confirming that the under pressure manager had left the club.

Sources: Players are ‘really p***** off’ at Pochettino departure – Source close to players says ‘circus continues’

Reports came out from many different outlets detailing the reasoning behind the departure, with one outlet even claiming that Chelsea just want a ‘puppet’ as their next manager rather than one who will question anything they do.

Some people will often hone in to the words of the reliable David Ornstein though to get their news and to really see what is going on, and although he hasn’t put too much out yet at the time of writing this, he has said something on Chelsea’s plans for a new manager. It sounds like Chelsea will appoint a new manager very soon, which is positive of course.

What do Chelsea want now then?

Ornstein said: “It seems Chelsea will go for these newer breed of exciting managers that play a good style of football with an identity that fits into their structure and connects with the fanbase. A good record of keeping players fit and available also improves them. I think we will know soon….”

Needs to be done fast

It’s so important that Chelsea make the right choice, but it’s equally as important for them to get the new manager in as soon as possible.

Chelsea’s players are currently on holiday now, but they will need the new manager to be well in place by the time pre-season starts. That’s so important.
