Jose Mourinho is already a popular figure at Chelsea, and always will be. But there’s a way he can make himself even more popular – by helping the Blues rid themselves of one of their big problems.
The signing of Romelu Lukaku quickly turned into one of the biggest fiascos in club history, and his albatrossian contract makes him impossible to sell permanently, with loan after loan being sorted out just to keep him out of sight and out of mind.
Now sources speaking to Caught Offside are claiming that Lukaku could be tempted to go and join Jose in his new adventure in Istanbul at Fenerbahce.

But you never know with these Turkish teams. They certainly have the capacity to break the bank and spend silly money if they really want, and maybe this will be their moment to do just that. They’ve just secured a huge name in the form of Mourinho, and will want to capitalise on the attention and potential that brings by getting some superstars too.
Chelsea are said to wait nothing less than £38m for Lukaku, but it’s hard to imagine them turning down something like £30m if it solves this issue once and for all. That will be a massive stretch for Fener, but they can make it happen if they really want.
What will be interesting is how much other interest there is in the Belgian. Saudi teams are constantly being linked with interest, but there’s a feeling that spending in that direction may be cooling down too. Just in the interests of getting Lukaku off our books, we’re sure Chelsea will be very open minded on how the deal goes down.
