Blues have extensively scouted 20-year-old as they search for Thiago Silva replacement

Chelsea have extensively scouted Sporting Lisbon centre back Ousmane Diomande and have made contact with his representatives in recent windows according to reports.

The Blues are looking to strengthen a number of areas in the squad this summer to give new head coach Enzo Maresca the best chance of success next season.

Goalkeeper, left back, centre back and striker are all areas that the club are reportedly looking at as the Blues gear up for what is set to be another busy summer at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea have extensively scouted Diomande

Following the appointment of Maresca Chelsea are set to announce their first summer signing later this week after agreeing a deal to sign centre back Tosin Adarabioyo on a free transfer from Fulham, and the 26-year-old underwent his medical on Tuesday.

The arrival of Adarabioyo will fill the space in the squad left by Thiago Silva, but it’s been reported Chelsea could look to bring in another centre back.

Chelsea have extensively scouted Diomande.

The arrival of a second centre back is likely to depend on what happens with Trevoh Chalobah, but if as expected the 24-year-old does leave then a replacement will need to be signed.

Chelsea have been linked with Lille’s Leny Yoro, Jonathan Tah of Bayer Leverkusen and Bayern Munich’s Dayot Upamecano.

However, Football London report that the Blues have extensively scouted Sporting star Diomande and have made contact with his representatives in recent windows.

The 20-year-old is known to be a good ball playing centre back which is what Maresca is looking for, and the report adds the Ivorian has a release clause of £68m, but it’s believed that can be negotiated down.

At the other end of the pitch Chelsea have been strongly linked with a move for RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko who has a release clause of £55m, as they look for a striker to compliment Nicolas Jackson.
