Chelsea could have to break the £200m barrier to sign 24-year-old

Chelsea could have to break the £200m barrier if they want to sign Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak according to reports.

The Blues are in the hunt for a striker to compete with Nicolas Jackson, who scored 14 Premier League goals in a successful debut season.

The club have agreed a deal to sign teenage striker Marc Guiu from Barcelona, but they reportedly still want to sign another striker.

Blues would have to pay more than £200m for Isak

The Daily Mail reported on Wednesday that Chelsea made an enquiry to Newcastle about the Swede, and signalled their intention to make a move if a deal could be agreed.

Isak was Newcastle’s top scorer last season with 23 goals in all competitions, and is one of the best strikers in the Premier League.

Chelsea have enquired about a move for Isak.

The report added that Chelsea would have to go above the £115m they paid Brighton for Moises Caicedo last summer to have any chance of landing the Sweden international.

The Northern Echo have now reported Chelsea could find themselves in a position where they would have to break through the £200m barrier if they want to sign the 24-year-old with Newcastle desperate to keep hold of one of their star players.

The report adds that Newcastle are relaxed about the situation as they don’t believe Chelsea can or would be willing to go that high on a fee, but that could change if Isak were to push for a move away.

Whilst the reality of a move for Isak seems pretty much impossible he’s exactly the sort of player that would elevate Chelsea to the next level.

The Blues have also been linked with Lille’s Jonathan David and Atletico Madrid’s Samu Omorodion, but their interest in Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran seems to have cooled as they continue their search for a new striker.
