Chelsea are reportedly in competition to sign another centre back as well as Fulham defender Tosin Adarabioyo, who they have agreed to sign on a free transfer this summer.
But as well as Tosin, it looks like Chelsea are in the race to sign another highly rated centre back to arrive alongside him this summer.
Sources: Chelsea still eyeing centre backs, winger noise intensifies, Osimhen off the menu – who now?
It looks like Tosin was just too good of an opportunity for Chelsea to turn down when he became available as a free agent this summer. But the club have certainly not stopped there with the transfer business this summer, and have not even stopped there with defenders this summer.
According to L’Equipe in France, Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid, and Liverpool are all in competition for the signing of Leny Yoro of Lille.
The 18-year-old appears to become a real sought-after talent in world football as he came through the ranks in France.
He’s played 46 times in Ligue 1 since 2022 which is a great turn out for a teenager so young. He’s also been a regular in the France national side up through the youth ranks, representing the U23s most recently in 2024.
It looks like he is the next biggest centre back coming out of France, and Chelsea are very much in the conversations to sign him by the looks of things.
Tosin and Yoro?
Chelsea lost Thiago Silva this summer with his contract running out, and there’s plenty of rumours about other potential centre backs being sold. So there could be room in the squad for two more, but you’d suspect that will depend on sales.
Yoro is also very young so I guess there is a chance that he goes out on loan, or has something to do with Strasbourg, Chelsea’s sister club. It’s all speculation of course, and Chelsea have a big battle on their hands if they want him.
