Enzo Maresca hasn’t even started yet but he’s already made wise Chelsea decision

Pending new Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has not even been officially confirmed by the club yet but already he has made a very wise decision, according to a report today.

Maresca has not even started his new job as Chelsea head coach yet, nor has it been announced officially yet. That is expected to happen today though.

Sources: Chelsea still eyeing centre backs, winger noise intensifies, Osimhen off the menu – who now?

Even still, he has made what I believe to be a very smart and wise decision, if the latest report from The Daily Mirror is correct.

As well as The Euros and The Copa Amercia being on this summer, after that there is also the Olympic Games. Many players from the Premier League are going to be called up to play in some of these competitions, but the Olympics are causing a bit of an issue due to it being played later on and well into the scheduled pre-season for domestic clubs.

According to the report from The Mirror, Argentina wanted to call-up Enzo Fernandez to play in the Olympic Games, and France wanted both Malo Gusto and Benoit Badiashile.

However, Chelsea have blocked the release of Gusto and Badiashile for Olympics because Enzo Maresca wants time to implement ideas. his pre-season and wants his key players there to do so.

Enzo not allowed to go to the Olympics either

As well as those two, Maresca has also blocked Enzo Fernandez going.

Fernandez had previously looked set to represent Argentina at the Olympics, which Mauricio Pochettino was prepared to approve, but Maresca has pushed back his inclusion as he wants to maximise his chances of hitting the ground running.

Smart and wise

Fernandez has just returned from surgery on an injury, he’s going to play Copa America too, letting him go would just be daft and risk fatigues and more injuries.

Gusto and Badiashile also had injuries this season, so we need to keep all our best players as free from risks as possible.
