Former Chelsea cult hero says two Clearlake signings need to be replaced

One former Chelsea cult hero has been saying some honest words this week and he believes that two of the signings made under the Clearlake ownership at Chelsea should be replaced.

There are some question marks over a number of players in the current squad, and they have faced a lot of criticism this season, much of it universally, some of it from fans, pundits, and some from former players and Chelsea players.

Despite ending the season well, Chelsea were hugely inconsistent throughout the campaign and had some terrible performances and results earlier on. Some of the players looked poor, but then some of them have turned their fortunes around in the latter end of the season.

Former Chelsea player John Obi Mikel is not one to hold his tongue when giving an opinion, and he has certainly not done that with his latest thoughts on Chelsea.

The Champions League winning midfielder became a real hero amongst the Chelsea terraces and can certainly be described as an under-rated unsung hero too. Chelsea fans seem to adore him.

Mikel wants Disasi and Badiashile replaced

Axel Disasi and Benoit Badiashile not rated by John Obi Mikel

Mikel believes that defenders Benoit Badiashile and Axel Disasi are not good enough to play for Chelsea and thinks the club need to sign two world class defenders instead.

Mikel said on his latest Podcast: “I don’t think Benoit Badiashile is the guy for Chelsea. Alex Disasi… no! We need two proven, top centre backs who will come in and stabilise that back four. We need two world class centre backs.”

Certainly both of these players have some real doubters amongst the Chelsea fan base too, and they certainly haven’t been the best players on the pitch this season, far from it.

I think this is a new Chelsea though, and we won’t see two world class defenders coming in. Chelsea are recruiting different these days, John.
