Andy Townsend and Tony Cascarino had an interesting chat on TalkSport about how Chelsea can improve this summer, and one thing that they really focused on was getting Enzo Fernandez playing at his best. The £100m man missed the end of the season and the team looked better without him, frankly.
Townsend described the Enzo, Conor Gallagher and Moises Caicedo midfield trio as “a little bit samey,” 3 players offering the same thing without variety.
While the Cole Palmer, Gallagher, Caicedo trio had a “really lovely feel about how that was moving.”
We would definitely agree that the midfield didn’t work as well with that original setup, there’s plenty of scope for a new manager to change the whole setup to get the best out of Enzo. As Cascarino added, that’s a huge task for Enzo Maresca as soon as he gets to work.
