Jon Obi Mikel was on TalkSport this morning to discuss the official appointment of Enzo Maresca as Chelsea’s new manager. Already the former Blues midfielder had doubts about how long the Italian coach could last.
“Will he be given the time, two or three years to build his team? I don’t know…”
Well, we know. No he won’t he has to start winning right off the bat, and that won’t be easy. He’s an inexperienced coach coming into a difficult situation.
This is the problem with this appointment – he’s been given a long contract to show how much faith there is in his ability, but this is a guy with just one full season of management on his CV. How can anyone have that level of faith in him, no matter how he’s come off in interviews? The evidence just isn’t out there.
