£29m man “agrees personal terms” for move away from Chelsea – but top insiders yet to back move

We’ve just been writing about how Noni Madueke could make this his season: Chelsea are struggling to sign a new right wing talent, Cole Palmer is going to be used more centrally, and the wonderkid pair of Kendry Paez and Estevao Willian don’t arrive until next summer.

But it may be that quite the opposite happens. Football Insider are this afternoon confidently reporting that in fact the former PSV man could be close to an exit from the club after just 18 months on the books.

They say that Madueke “has agreed personal terms” with Newcastle, who are searching for a right winger of their own. Madueke is their “first choice”. This all seems very advanced – Madueke is on the USA tour right now talking about his future, we’ve not heard much about this move which would make us believe it’s this advanced.

No transfer fee is mentioned, but Madueke cost Chelsea £29m to sign from PSV, and one imagines they wouldn’t let him go for anything less than a small profit.

Noni Madueke takes on a full back for pace in preseason.

Further off than it sounds

Despite the confidence of this report, we’re not convinced yet. We’ve yet to hear anything remotely as confident from any of the big insiders, and until someone like Fabrizio Romano says this is close to being a done deal, we’re going to be very cautious about believing any of it.

We can well imagine Chelsea would consider offers for Madueke that see us make a profit however, so if Newcastle do come calling, we will certainly listen. It would create space for the elite right winger we’ve allegedly been chasing all summer, as well as for next summer’s arrivals of Paez and Willian.

If this story is backed up by other sources in the next 24 hours, we will really start to pay attention.

  1. Don’t think he goes . He will stay and by next summer might due to William and paez . Alvarez or olmo will be good addition for Chelsea FC . Plus if they can make atletico Madrid accept swap deal .
