Chelsea pick former Man Utd player to replace Conor Gallagher in bizarre claims

One outlet has made a crazy claim that Chelsea have picked out a replacement for midfielder Conor Gallagher, who has been heavily linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge this summer.

There is nothing new on Gallagher’s Chelsea future, and much of what has been said on this recently was that it will be sorted once the Euros are over. And the Euros are now of course over, so we should soon be finding out what the future holds for the Chelsea and England man.

EXCLUSIVE!! Chelsea have put TWO centre backs up for sale and one for loan in order to sign one more new PREMIER LEAGUE centre back!

If he is sold, Chelsea are apparently looking to replace him. That alone is bizarre enough, but so is the name that is being claimed Chelsea want to replace him with!

According to Globo in Brazil, Chelsea have identified Andreas Pereira as their ideal replacement for Conor Gallagher and would be willing to pay £30-35m. They have confirmed their interest to his agent Kia Joorabchian and want to know the conditions.

They also claim that new head coach Enzo Maresca has approved the move!

Wild claims

I mean, it might turn out to be true of course – stranger things have happened. But personally, I see this as pure agent talk and agent generated news as he looks to get a move for his client.

To start with, why would Chelsea even need to replace Gallagher having just signed Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall? They are also stacked in that area of the pitch. Unless they have plans to sell a player like Carney Chukwuemeka? Even still, they would be stacked.

And Pereira? Is he really going to add anything? Is he even good enough? The former Manchester United player is certainly not a name that we expected to be linked with Chelsea anytime soon, and also, his age profile at 28 really doesn’t match Chelsea’s recent recruitment strategy.

All of this report is just completely bizarre, and I don’t personally believe it.
