Chelsea ‘considering offer’ to sign 26-year-old 51-cap Italian international

Chelsea are reportedly considering an offer to sign a 26-year-old Italian international with 51 caps to his name this summer.

Chelsea have been working on a number of deals to sign players in recent weeks and months as they look to bring in potentially one more striker and another winger. They also seemingly need to make more player sales as well.

But the focus is on attackers, and according to our own insider Simon Phillips writing on his Substack website this morning, The Blues have been offered a chance to sign experienced international Federico Chiesa this summer.

Apparently his agents have approached a number of clubs including Chelsea to see if they would be interested in signing the winger.

Chelsea are considering the move, but have not given a definitive response as of yet.

Phillips says: “The agent of Federico Chiesa has approached Chelsea, SPTC sources understand.

“Chelsea have not yet given a definitive answer, and have been considering it. But sources think it’s unlikely. His agent spoke to Chelsea though because we have had recent interest in Chiesa. Thomas Tuchel suggested him to the board when he was in charge, and the board did seriously look at signing him. It wasn’t possible or viable at that time, but Chiesa does still have some admirers at Chelsea, so let’s see if anything comes of that one.”

Personally we do not see Chelsea going for Chiesa due to his injury history, but perhaps if there is an opportunity to get a cheap deal or a loan to buy deal here then they might at least look at it, which it seems they are anyway.
