Chelsea could sell unwanted 29-year-old who wants La Liga return for close to £12.6m

Chelsea could sell Kepa Arrizabalaga for a figure close to £12.6m according to reports in Spain with the Blues keen to offload the 29-year-old.

It’s been a busy summer at Stamford Bridge so far with seven new faces arriving at the club, and it’s been reported the club hope to add two or three more signings by the end of July.

The Blues aren’t just focused on incomings they are also looking to offload a number of players as they look to balance the books and trim the squad down.

Ian Maatsen and Omari Hutchinson have already been sold to Aston Villa and Ipswich respectively, but there’s a number of other players who need to be moved on including Arrizabalaga.

The Spaniard spent last season on loan at Real Madrid, where he made 20 appearances in all competitions as the club won both La LIga and the Champions League.

He returned to Chelsea this summer with just a year left on his deal and has been training away from the first team.

There was interest from Saudi side Al-Ittihad who had an initial offer rejected but they have subsequently ended their interest in the Spain international.

It’s been reported that Arrizabalaga is waiting for Real Madrid as he wants to return to the club, but that is dependant on whether Andriy Lunin, who he lost his place to during the last campaign decides to leave or sign a new contract, as he also only has a year left on his current deal.

Spanish outlet Relevo have reported the Blues could sell the world’s most expensive goalkeeper for a figure close to £12.6m.

Arguably more important than the transfer fee is getting the goalkeeper’s wages off the books and the club will certainly want a resolution to his future sooner rather than later.

The Blues are thought to be closing in on a deal for Villarreal goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen and are in discussions over a fee between £16.7m and £20.9m for the 22-year-old, whilst Djordje Petrovic could be sold to make room.
