“Chelsea don’t want to” – Fabrizio Romano clarifies one big transfer rumour

Paul Winstanley walks alongside Todd Boehly

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has provided some clarification on one big Chelsea transfer rumour that has been doing the rounds lately as we head deep into the summer transfer window.

There’s many big transfer rumours going around right now involving Chelsea, as there always is. But there was one that caught the attention of Blues fans recently.

Sources: Chelsea, Manchester United, and Aston Villa all keen on the same Premier League striker! 👀

That was a rumour suggesting that midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka was a loan target for AC Milan, who were pursuing a deal for the youngster.

But speaking exclusively to CaughtOffside for his latest Daily Briefing column, Romano explained that he’s not aware of anything happening with Milan at the moment, despite speculation, with the journalist stating that Chelsea don’t want to loan the player out, meaning the situation is currently quiet.

Chukwuemeka not available for loan

Carney’s future remains uncertain

Chelsea are not interested in loan their young midfielder out, but he does have a release clause that allows clubs to buy him.

“Chelsea midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka has also been linked as a loan target for Milan, but I’m not aware of this story either. Chelsea don’t want to loan him out, so the situation is quiet and in any case he has a £40m release clause in his contract,” Romano said.

It will be interesting to see what happens with Carney because Chelsea have just signed Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, and they both play in the same position. The fact that Carney also has a release clause that isn’t overly ridiculous, means that something could certainly still happen with this situation.

Chelsea don’t want to loan him out, but is that just because they want to sell him instead and are hoping a club come in and pay his release clause? It certainly has a sense of that about it to me. We will wait and see…
