Chelsea hold fresh talks over 22-year-old Premier League star

Chelsea have held fresh talks with Nottingham Forest over centre back Murillo, who remains a target for the Blues according to journalist Gianluigi Longari.

The Stamford Bridge outfit have been busy this summer with six new faces coming through the door as the club look to strengthen their squad in an attempt to get back into the Champions League next season.

The Blues are still believed to be in the market for a winger, striker and goalkeeper, but any new signings are unlikely to happen until after pre-season, with the club heading off on their tour of America on Monday.

Chelsea hold fresh Murillo talks

Chelsea were known to be in the market for a centre back and have already signed Tosin Adarabioyo on a free transfer from neighbours Fulham, whilst Renato Veiga fills the profile of the left footed defender they were looking for.

The arrival of another centre back seemingly hasn’t been ruled out although any signing would depend on departures, with Trevoh Chalobah viewed as the most likely candidate to leave.

However, Longari has reported that Chelsea have held new talks with Forest over Brazilian defender Murillo, who is believed to be a target ahead of the new season.

The 22-year-old arrived at Forest last summer from Brazilian side Corinthians and impressed in his debut campaign, establishing himself as one of the best young defenders in the league as Forest stayed up for the second consecutive season.

It had been reported earlier this summer that Chelsea were interested in Murillo, but they weren’t prepared to meet the asking price which is believed to be around £70m.

Whilst Murillo is clearly a talent, Chelsea simply don’t have room for another defender in the squad, and strengthening other areas is much more a priority.

Young defender Alfie Gilchrist is set to leave on loan, whilst no progress has been made on Chalobah’s exit with the 25-year-old reportedly only wanting a Champions League club if he does leave.
