Chelsea interested in signing Ligue 1 ace valued at more than €60m

Chelsea are among the clubs interested in signing Rennes star Desire Doue this summer according to reports in France.

The Blues have had a busy summer already and have made six signings with Renato Veiga completing his move from Swiss side FC Basel on Friday.

Despite this, Chelsea are still looking for to add more players to Enzo Maresca’s squad to give the Italian the best chance of getting the club back into the Champions League next season.

The main priorities in the window are now a winger and a striker, and the Blues have been linked with a whole host of names across Europe.

Chelsea tried hard to sign Michael Olise from Crystal Palace, but pulled out of a deal as they believed the finances involved were beyond their reach, and they have subsequently been linked with the likes of Karim Adeyemi and Francisco Conceicao.

However, L’equipe report the Blues are interested in Rennes ace Doue with the Ligue 1 outfit wanting more than €60m for the 19-year-old.

The report adds that Bayern Munich had an offer of €35m rejected for the Frenchman, whilst Paris Saint Germain are also keeping an eye on the situation.

Doue has two years left on his contract, and if the teenager isn’t planning on signing a new deal this summer would represent the best chance for Rennes to get the highest fee possible.

Rennes are known for producing talented players and have sold the likes of Ousmane Dembele, Eduardo Camavinga, Mathys Tel and Lesley Ugochukwu over the years.

Doue is predominantly a left winger who can also play on the right and in attacking midfield, and that versatility could certainly be attractive to the Blues.

The teenager made 43 appearances in all competitions last season, scoring four goals and providing six assists, and the race for his signature looks like it’s starting to heat up, but only time will tell if Chelsea will make a move.
