“Chelsea lack” – Former Blues player tells club who to sign up top this summer

A former Chelsea player has told the club who they need to sign as their new striker coming in this summer and has explained why as well.

Chelsea have been linked with all sorts of different strikers and profiles up top this summer, but there is one profile that they truly do lack.

Sources: Chelsea consider another ‘Cole Palmer-type’ swoop for Manchester City player, Plus trying their luck with Nico Williams again….

And former Chelsea striker Tony Cascarino has got this exactly spot on with his latest opinion on who Chelsea need to sign up top.

He says that Chelsea should be going for Ivan Toney from Brentford because he offers you that physical presence.

He believes that Chelsea should go for Toney over Julian Alvarez of Manchester City because he suits what they need more than the latter.

Cascarino is right

As above, Cascarino said: “I would be far more on Ivan Toney than Julian Alvarez only because I feel Chelsea lack a physical presence in their forward line. They really do.”

I don’t know how the club cannot see that they lack this type of player and they should be pushing to bring in someone like Toney. In fact, they should be pushing to bring Toney in, because he’s a fantastic player with leaderships qualities, an eye for a goal, and a very useful link-up player as well as being a good target man and a threat in the air, something Chelsea do not have.

Alvarez is a top striker as well but he doesn’t provide that presence and focal point that Toney does. Unfortunately though I just cannot see Chelsea making an offer for Toney at this point now despite clearly having an interest in him.

He’s just too old I expect for Chelsea’s ways of operating in the transfer market now – they’d sooner buy an unproven teenager and take a much bigger risk.
