Chelsea make new enquiry to sign France Olympic team striker this window

Chelsea have reportedly made a new enquiry to sign a striker, this time it is a striker who plays for the France Olympic team.

The Blues have been hunting for new strikers in recent weeks, and they have been linked to many names and made many enquiries. None of the enquiries have led anywhere yet, but they have made a fresh new enquiry for a new name today.

Sources: Frank Lampard’s involvement in new England manager pursuit, plus three other former Chelsea managers in for it!

According to L’Equipe, Chelsea have enquired about signing Elye Wahi from Lens and want to know the price for him to arrive at Stamford Bridge for this summer’s transfer window.

Wahi has been linked with Chelsea before and in fact, rejected Chelsea before, as seen below.

Chelsea back in for Wahi

Wahi wanted by Chelsea

If the report from France is to be believed, it looks like Chelsea are moving back in for Wahi once again.

The 21-year-old Ligue 1 striker has played for France at youth level up to the U21s, and he is now representing them in the Olympics this summer.

He’s been playing in Ligue 1 in France since 2020 now but is not really what you would describe as a prolific goalscorer despite showing a lot of promise.

He’s scored 9 goals in 28 appearances in the league for Lens, and before that, he scored 32 goals in 85 league appearances for Montpellier.

He has attracted interest from some of the big clubs including Chelsea, but he is yet to make his big move yet.

It just goes down the route that Chelsea are insisting on right now, which is buying young and cheap and hoping that the promise they are showing comes good. It’s high risk and low reward, but if the reward comes off and the player develops into the promise they are showing, then it becomes a win.

Wahi will not excite Chelsea fans though.
