One current Chelsea player has switched up his position in a move that has helped his team reach the final of yet another major competition.

During the summer there has been a couple of great international competitions to feast on and allow us to keep our football fix going.

Both The Euros and The Copa America have provided us with a lot of quality entertainment and some really great games to watch.

And last night saw one Chelsea player help his country make the final of yet another major competition, after winning The World Cup in their last one.

Enzo Fernandez started for Argentina to help them beat Canada with ease, winning 2-0 on the night.

Enzo reverts back to a defensive midfielder

His position for Argentina and also for Chelsea has been switched up a lot lately, sometimes playing mainly as a 8 or even a 10. But last night, he was reverted back to what I call a 6, and what local Argentine media seemingly call a 5. But it basically means a sitting defensive midfielder.

And this is the same position he played in when Argentina won the World Cup.

Gaston Edul of TyC Sports posted on X last night: “Enzo Fernández is playing as a no.5 tonight in midfield, it’s the same position he played in the World Cup.”

As you can see above, this was so Alexis Mac Allister can have more freedom in midfield and be able to roam.

Well, it’s a decision that looked like it paid off, with Argentina booking themselves a place in the final after playing very well collectively.

Chelsea’s Enzo will now be looking forward to playing in another final with his country and hopefully winning another major trophy and coming back to Stamford Bridge as a Cope America champion!
