Chelsea to earn £1million if The Football Association make this one big decision

Chelsea could well be in line to earn £1million if The Football Association make this one big decision moving forward.

The Blues could use all the money they get at the moment, with tight restrictions around PSR rules and also, having spent out a lot of money on signing new players in the last four transfer windows.

Sources: Frank Lampard’s involvement in new England manager pursuit, plus three other former Chelsea managers in for it!

And now according to The Daily Mail, Chelsea would pocket a windfall worth up to £1million should England decide to replace Gareth Southgate with Graham Potter.

Potter departed Stamford Bridge last April after less than seven months in charge. However, The Mail report that Chelsea remain obliged to pay his salary, thought to be around £200,000-a-week, until October.

Should the FA swoop, the wage they pay Potter would then be deducted from the amount outstanding from Chelsea.

Potter a target for England

Potter failed at Chelsea

The former Brighton and Chelsea manager is a target for England as they look to replace Southgate and seemingly, he is a name that is pretty high on the list of candidates.

He failed at Chelsea and got sacked there, but many believe he could be a good England manager going forward and a more impressive success at Brighton.

Chelsea appointed Potter in September 2022 following the sacking of Thomas Tuchel. They paid Brighton around £21m in compensation for the manager and a host of his backroom staff.

Personally I think England should be looking at a better overall manager. Potter is pretty decent tactically, but he lacks a persona and a top winning mentality. To be England manager I think we need to be looking for a much better tactical manager but also a strong motivator and one who demands success.

This is a good bunch of England players, they need a manager who can come in and get the very best out of them now.
