(Image) Chelsea star takes shirt number of club legend for new season

Chelsea have announced some updates to squad numbers ahead of the new season with Levi Colwill taking Thiago Silva’s number six shirt.

Colwill played in the number 26 shirt last season, which was made famous by John Terry, and ahead of the upcoming season he has taken the number of another legend in Silva.

The academy graduate played in the number six shirt whilst on loan at Brighton in the 2022/2023 season, and will once again have it on his back.

New signings Tosin Adarabioyo, Omari Kellyman, Marc Guiu, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Renato Veiga were handed four, 37, 38, 22 and 40 respectively, whilst Wesley Fofana switches to the number 29.

Chelsea completed their first week of pre-season training last week and have their first pre-season game in America against Wrexham on the 24th July.

The tour will see the Blues also face Club America, Celtic, Real Madrid and Manchester City before facing Inter Milan at Stamford Bridge on August 11th, the week before the opening game of the season.
