€18m player could be the third of four on Romano reported Chelsea shortlist

Earlier this summer, Chelsea’s focus seemed to be on signing a new right winger and a new striker. Since then, both those links have gone rather cold, and now it appears that the focus is back on potentially improving out situation in goal.

That area is massively complicated by the fact we signed two goalkeepers a year ago, but that’s not stopping the rumours suddenly intensifying. Yesterday, notorious transfer Fabrizio Romano put out an update which claimed that we’ve got our eyes on 4 potential targets.

He confirmed two of them in the very same Tweet – Filip Jorgensen of Villareal and Mads Hermansen of Leicester. He also ruled out the idea that Valencia keeper Giorgi Mamardashvili was another of the four.

So there are two mystery names out there, and we might just have found out another one of them today. Luca Bendoni from the Gianluca Di Marzio network of transferistas claims that Diant Ramaj of Ajax is available this summer, and that clubs in Spain are “keeping an eye on him for a loan.”

Chelsea meanwhile are being “informed about [the] conditions of a potential deal” for him. Could it be that he’s the third of the four?

What to expect from young keeper

Ramaj is very inexperienced. He played 2 Bundesliga games for Frankfurt before making the switch to Ajax last summer for €5m. He played 22 league games for the Dutch giants as they had a historically poor season. Now 22, he’s not really regarded as a top prospect, at least according to the reports we’ve seen.

He’s valued at €18m by Transfermarkt, and would likely be pretty cheap given Ajax are happy to sell. But would he really be an upgrade on what we’ve already got? There seems very little certainty of that, and we’d be surprised to see this interest advance.
