Chelsea ace prepared to remain at club if conditions for move away don’t meet his requirements

Conor Gallagher would be prepared to stay at Chelsea if the conditions for a transfer don’t meet his requirements according to reports.

Gallagher, who is currently on holiday after his exploits for England at Euro 2024 is into the final 12 months of his contract and has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge.

The Blues have been busy this summer and have made seven signings, with Filip Jorgensen and Aaron Anselimino also close to joining the club.

It’s not just about incomings and Chelsea are also looking to offload a number of players in order to trim down their squad.

Fan favourite Gallagher falls into that category and the ownership have been trying to sell him since they took over in 2022.

The England international has been linked with rivals Tottenham and Atletico Madrid, with it being reported that the Spanish side have shown the most interest in the midfielder.

Fabrizio Romano provided a major update on Tuesday morning stating Atletico were in direct talks with Chelsea over Gallagher for a total package worth up to £33.7m, which is considerably less than the £50m asking price.

However, The Guardian have added that it’s unclear if the 24-year-old would be open to a move to the La Liga outfit, and that if the conditions of a move didn’t meet his requirements he would be prepared to remain at Chelsea.

This update raises the possibility of Gallagher leaving on a free next summer which Chelsea will be desperate to avoid, and it will be interesting to see how they handle the situation.

Gallagher came through the ranks at the club and established himself as a key player last season as the Blues secured a top six finish and a return to European football.

He captained the side for the majority of the last campaign due to the absence of Reece James and Ben Chilwell, but it’s felt like a departure has been inevitable for a while, particularly with the Blues signing Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall this summer.

  1. Its better for him to leave the club . If true about the rumour that he is link to la liga team , there is a good chance of him to improve his skills . New coach and New surroundings .
