The Sun certainly publishes a lot of rubbish, but they occasionally stumble across something interesting, as they did today with their comparison of all 5 of Chelsea’s first team centre backs.
The context of their piece is Trevoh Chalobah’s exile from the group. He’s the only one of the five not on the USA tour. Due to injury he only played the last third of last season, but was excellent in that period. He beat off all competition to be first choice for Mauricio Pochettino the moment he was fit. The stats show he made not one error leading to a shot in 17 games played, and competed 76% of his tackles.
Whatever new manager Enzo Maresca’s thinking has been so far, conceding 6 goals in 180 minutes to Wrexham and Celtic will have done a fair bit to encourage the idea that Chalobah deserves another shot.
