“He’s a superstar the boy , he’s an absolute talent” – Former Blue praises current star

Former Chelsea player Jason Cundy has described Cole Palmer as a “superstar” and an “absolute talent” following his incredible season.

Palmer joined the Blues on deadline day last summer from Manchester City and took the Premier League by storm in his first season of playing regular football.

After starting on the bench for the first few games Palmer soon established himself as a key player and went on to score 22 Premier League goals and provide 11 assists, which saw him named Premier League Young Player of the Year.

It’s not just domestically where the 22-year-old has impressed, he’s also had an impact for England on the international stage.

After making his debut last November, his fine form was rewarded with a place in the England squad for Euro 2024, but Palmer had to bide his time in Germany after being overlooked completely for the first two games.

Palmer won’t be part of Chelsea’s pre-season tour of America.

After impressing from the bench in the final group game against Slovenia, Palmer played a part in every knockout game making vital contributions as he scored in the penalty shootout win against Switzerland, assisted Ollie Watkins’ last minute winner against the Netherlands and scored the equaliser in the final.

Ex-Blue Cundy was full of praise for Palmer, when discussing Chelsea ahead of the upcoming season and described the England international as a “superstar.”

“This boy has surprised everyone, no one saw this Cole Palmer, I’m gonna put Pep in there as well, because he has absolutely exceeded any expectations and doubled it,” he told talkSPORT.

“What he did at Chelsea last season was quite incredible. He’s a superstar the boy. He’s an absolute talent.”

Palmer is currently having a well earned break and won’t be part of Chelsea’s squad for the upcoming tour of America as he’s not due to report back until next month, but he will no doubt play a key role for Enzo Maresca next season, and will likely be central to any success Chelsea have.
