“What they do before I don’t care” – Former Blue shares honest views on Chelsea’s pre-season

Former Blue Frank Leboeuf insists he doesn’t care what Chelsea do in pre-season and that he will judge his former side after the first game of the Premier League.

It’s been all change at Stamford Bridge again this summer with Enzo Maresca replacing Mauricio Pochettino in the dugout and seven new faces arriving through the door at the club.

Maresca faces a tough task in west London with the first team struggling for the past two seasons, and he’s been tasked with bringing silverware to the club and getting them back into the Champions League.

Lebouef doesn’t care about Chelsea’s pre-season results

Chelsea are currently in America on their pre-season tour where they have five matches in five different cities as they prepare for the new season.

It’s fair to say it’s been a slow start and things haven’t completely gone to plan as the Blues drew 2-2 to Wrexham and then got thrashed 4-1 by Celtic.

Chelsea and Maresca have come under some criticism for the results so far, but former Blue Leboeuf insists he doesn’t care about the results in pre-season and will judge the club after the first game of the Premier League season.

Chelsea have endured a difficult start to pre-season.

“We’re not gonna start thrashing Chelsea because of two pre-season games. I don’t care. They can lose any game,” he told ESPN.

“I don’t understand that you are so extreme right now, take it easy my man it’s just a tour.

“They are working and we’re gonna judge them after the first game of the Premier League. What they do before I don’t care.”

There were always going to be teething issues and the squad were never going to fully adapt to Maresca’s system after just two games.

it’s going to take time and a lot of the players are being asked to play in a way they haven’t done before, so patience is going to be required.

It’s worth pointing out that Chelsea are still without a number of key first team players in Enzo Fernandez, Cole Palmer, Marc Cucurella and Cole Palmer, whilst Moises Caicedo, Nicolas Jackson and new signing Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall haven’t featured in the first two games.
