Ex-Blue urges Chelsea to resign club legend amid Premier League interest

Former Chelsea player Frank Leboeuf has urged the club to re sign N’Golo Kante who is attracting interest from West Ham.

Kante departed Chelsea last summer, bringing an end to his seven year stint at Stamford Bridge as he joined Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad.

The 33-year-old established himself as a fan favourite in west London and won the Champions League and Premier League during his time at the club, but also suffered his fair share of injury problems towards the end of his spell.

Kante appears to have put his injury issues behind him in Saudi and made 44 appearances in all competitions, scoring four goals and providing six assists last season.

The midfielder impressed for France as they made the semi finals of Euro 2024, and he won two Player of the Match Awards in three group stage games.

His form has seen him attract interest from the Premier League, with West Ham expressing an interest in bringing Kante back to England.

The Hammers had a £15m offer for Kante rejected and Ben Jacobs has reported that the Frenchman has informed Al-Ittihad he’s happy to stay at the club.

Former Blue Leboeuf believes Chelsea should try and bring him back to London, and that he’s still a top player.

“When I saw the article [linking him to West Ham] I said, what? Why Chelsea don’t call him back? The guy is from Chelsea,” he told ESPN.

“We don’t want to see him at West Ham, with all due respect, and I think if West Ham can get him, you know, that’s a very good catch because that guy has proven during the Euros that he was still at the top.”

The chances of Chelsea making a move for Kante are likely to be slim to none given the amount of options the Blues currently have in midfield, not to mention he doesn’t exactly fit the model the club currently operate.
