Three Premier League clubs interested in taking 20-year-old Chelsea star on loan

Three Premier League clubs are interested in taking Lesley Ugochukwu on loan next season with Chelsea set to review their options for the midfielder according to The Athletic.

Ugochukwu joined Chelsea from Rennes last summer for around £23.5m and signed a long term contract at Stamford Bridge.

The Frenchman is reportedly not a key part of Enzo Maresca’s plans for the upcoming season, with the club open to sanctioning a loan deal.

Premier League interest in Ugochukwu

Ugochukwu was part of France’s provisional squad for the Olympics but he didn’t make the final cut for Thierry Henry’s squad.

The 20-year-old made 15 appearances for the Blues last season, but spent the majority of the season sidelined with a hamstring injury picked up at Christmas time, but did appear in Chelsea’s final two games against Brighton and Bournemouth.

Ugochukwu is set to leave Chelsea on loan this summer.

Chelsea are stacked for options in midfield, and even more so following the arrival of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall from Leicester City with several of their options set to leave on loan.

The Athletic have reported that three Premier League clubs as well as teams from around Europe are interested in taking Ugochukwu on loan.

The report adds that Chelsea’s priority would be to send Ugochukwu to a Premier League club, and the plan was for him to go on loan to Strasbourg last season but Mauricio Pochettino wanted to keep him as part of the squad.

The futures of several midfielders remain unclear, with Conor Gallagher’s future set to be decided after Euro 2024, whilst a decision hasn’t yet been taken on whether Andrey Santos will be part of the first team squad or go out on loan.

Chelsea have been handed a boost with Romeo Lavia returning to pre-season training fit after missing the entirety of last season with injury, and the Belgian will feel like a new signing for the club.
