Long term Chelsea target wants PSG move which could actually help the Blues

Long term Chelsea target Victor Osimhen appears to be closing in on a move to French giants Paris Saint Germain according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Blues have had a busy window so far with six new faces coming through the door at Stamford Bridge as they look to strengthen the squad in an attempt to get back into the Champions League.

Chelsea are still believed to be in the market for a winger and a striker and despite being linked with a host of names across Europe little progress seems to be have been made.

The Blues are looking for a striker to compete with Nicolas Jackson, who scored 14 Premier League goals last season and despite signing Marc Guiu from Barcelona, they are looking to add another body in that area.

Chelsea have held long term interest in Napoli striker Osimhen and were believed to be one of the favourites for the Nigeria international’s signature.

However, earlier this summer the Blues distanced themselves from a deal due to the cost and concerns over the Nigerian’s style of play.

Reports emerged recently that the club hadn’t ruled out going in for Osimhen if Napoli dropped their asking price, which is currently the £113m release clause.

Romano has shared an update on the striker and if Chelsea are to make a late move they need to get a move as the striker appears to be progressing with a move to PSG.

He took to X.com and said:

“Paris Saint-Germain have Osimhen’s green light to project/move, work in progress on contract details.

“Negotiations between PSG and Napoli are now key part of the story, not easy. If Osimhen leaves, Napoli will go for Lukaku.”

A potential move to PSG would actually help Chelsea as it would pave the way for Romelu Lukaku to leave the club and reunite with Antonio Conte in Naples.

The likes of Jonathan David, Samu Omorodion and Jhon Duran have all been linked with the club, but interest appears to have cooled in the trio, and the Blues are set to assess Guiu and Christopher Nkunku in the striker role in pre-season before making a definitive decision on if a new striker is needed.
