“I think he is amazing, genuinely” – Pundit full of praise for Chelsea ace following incredible season

Former Manchester City player Nedum Onuoha has described Cole Palmer as “amazing” but admitted he thought the hype would die down.

Palmer has returned from his exploits with England at Euro 2024 where he made a big impact for the Three Lions in the knockout stages.

The 22-year-old scored in the penalty shootout win against Switzerland, assisted Ollie Watkins’ last minute winner against the Netherlands, and scored the equaliser in the final against Spain.

Onuoha thinks Palmer is amazing

Nobody would have predicted Palmer to have the impact that he did for both club and country following his move to Stamford Bridge from Manchester City on deadline day last summer.

Palmer took the Premier League by storm and scored 22 goals and provided 11 assists, which saw him named Premier League Young Player of the Year.

He also made his England debut last November, and his performances at Euro 2024 left many saying he should have played a bigger part in Germany given how he impacted games from the bench.

Palmer has had an incredible impact for both club and country.

Palmer has rightfully received plenty of praise for his incredible season and former City player Onuoha has described the England international as amazing.

“I will be honest. Cole Palmer is amazing,” he told BBC Radio 5 Live.

“This last year, I watched him, at the start of the season, I thought maybe it will die away. I think he is amazing. Genuinely.”

It’s hard to argue with that assessment and Palmer will now have a well earned break before linking up with Chelsea again ahead of the new season.

The challenge for him now is can he replicate or get close to what he did last season, because people will be expecting him to produce what he did last season on a regular basis.

Palmer knows new boss Enzo Maresca from their time in the City academy together and Chelsea fans will be hoping the Italian can take Palmer’s game to another level.
