(Video) New Chelsea signing shares which club legend he’s a huge fan of

Chelsea confirmed the signing of Renato Veiga from FC Basel on Friday with the 20-year-old signing a seven year contract with the option of a further year.

Veiga becomes the club’s sixth summer signing after Tosin Adarabioyo, Omari Kellyman, Marc Guiu, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Estevao Willian who will join in 2025.

The Blues paid just €14m for the Portugal under-20 international, and he’s become the left sided defender the club were looking to add this window.

Veiga can play at left back, centre back and in midfield, but it’s believed Chelsea see him filling the role of a left back who can invert into midfield.

Enzo Maresca will assess Veiga in pre-season before deciding if he will be part of the first team or needs a loan to continue his development.

Veiga is certainly physically imposing and along with Adarabioyo addresses concerns over a lack of height in the team which was flagged up last season.

In his first interview as a Blue Veiga was asked if he watched any Chelsea player’s growing up and he responded by revealing he was a big fan of N’Golo Kante, and quite frankly who isn’t?!
