Robert Sanchez: “I am the right guy” to be Chelsea number one this season

Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez has come out with all guns blazing claiming that he is the right guy to be the Chelsea number one stopper this season, an opinion that will not be backed by many Blues fans.

Chelsea fans grew frustrated by the amount of mistakes Sanchez seemingly made with the ball at his feet and also missing some easier saves to make during his first season at the club.

Sources: Nico Williams to Chelsea still on! 👀

Sanchez started out as Chelsea’s number one keeper when he arrived from Brighton last summer, but he soon lost out to the younger Djordje Petrovic when Sanchez found himself on the long-term injured list.

But Sanchez is back fully fit and he is more than ready to take up the fight to become the regular Chelsea number one, and he might soon also now have to fight with potential new signing Filip Jorgensen from Villareal now as well with Chelsea reportedly sending an offer in for him today.

Sanchez up for the challenge

The stopper is fully backing himself to be Chelsea number one this season and says that he is the right guy for the job as Chelsea number one.

Journalist Ben Jacobs asked whether Sanchez is confident he’ll be No.1 at Chelsea this season and how he’s adapting to Enzo Maresca’s style.

“I am training hard to get that position,” Sanchez said.

“I’ll get some minutes and we’ll go from there…

“I always think playing with my feet is my game. I feel really comfortable with what [Maresca] wants. He has explained what he wants from me and I’ve been doing it in training, and it’s looking really good at the moment.

“I know what I can bring to the team. I am positive. It’s a totally different [style]. The goalkeeper here needs to ‘have a pair’ and show a bit of personality. I think I am the right guy for that. Right now, I’m feeling really confident in training. It’s looking good.”
