Rodri praises “huge player” from Chelsea who caused them problems in Euros final

Yesterday saw the climax of The Euros competition this summer after what had been quite a dramatic tournament, especially in the early stages.

The group matches saw some really entertaining games and many of us football fans did not want the competition to come to an end.

Sources: Desire Doue to Chelsea? Plus big updates on Mathys Tel and Karim Adeyemi…

But it ended last night, and it ended as Spain as the Euros champions. In a Chelsea sense, it was great to see Marc Cucurella win the trophy and also play so well all through the competition, but it was obviously commiserations for Cole Palmer and Conor Gallagher.

In an England sense, because I am an England fan, it was a case of the same old story and the wait for another trophy heads into another year (57 years I believe).

But back to Chelsea, as this is a Chelsea site, and Palmer certainly still made his mark on the final and one the Euros as a whole.

Spain’s Rodri praises Palmer

Rodri knows the talent of Palmer

Manchester City and Spain’s Rodri got player of the tournament, which was well deserved. And he had some praise to offer Palmer at the end of the game. Rodri knows Palmer well of course after playing together at City.

As cited by HITC, Rodri said: “We knew they didn’t need to do a great game to draw, to score goals,” said Rodri. “I know this guy (Palmer). Huge talent he is going to be. A top player in the next years. He put it in the corner (Palmer’s goal).

“In that moment we suffer a little bit. But this tournament, we showed something different that was key and we overcame this situation, so it was great.”

Palmer proved to Gareth Southgate once again last night that he was a fool not to be starting him in games and only using him as a late sub.
