Striker wants to join other Premier League club over Chelsea this summer with move close

A striker reportedly wants to join another Premier League club over Chelsea or Newcastle United this summer with a move close for him now.

Chelsea have been linked to many different new striker names in recent weeks and months as they push ahead to bring in a new number 9 for the upcoming new season.

Sources: Chelsea consider another ‘Cole Palmer-type’ swoop for Manchester City player, Plus trying their luck with Nico Williams again….

Jhon Duran from Aston Villa was a striker who has been linked with Chelsea many times this window and it was a potential move that truly was the talk of the town a month or so ago. But that then seemed to die off, and is that now because Duran also didn’t fancy the move and wants to go to West Ham instead? Or maybe is is just because his valuation by Villa was/is just way too much? Maybe a bit of both.

Journalist James Nursey of The Daily Mirror is reporting that he is expecting Duran to ask Villa if he can leave to join West Ham this week, as seen further below in his latest post on X.

Duran prefers West Ham move

As above, it looks like Duran prefers a move to West Ham due to the manager there.

Nursey posted: ‘Expecting Jhon Duran to this week tell Aston Villa he wants to move to West Ham. Villa asking for £40m. Hammers getting close after 3 bids. Chelsea and Newcastle also interested in striker but Duran wants to play for fellow Spanish speaker Lopetegui who can offer first team football.’

It’s certainly an interesting one to ponder. Chelsea have Nicolas Jackson and you’d suspect that Duran might have found it tough to come in and be the regular starter at Chelsea right away, and that’s clearly what he wants to be at this stage of his career.

I do also think Chelsea found Duran’s price tag a bit expensive.
