“This last week has been a dream come true” – Future star opens up on pre-season tour

Future Chelsea star Tyrique George has described the last week as a “dream come true” with the teenager part of Chelsea’s squad for their pre-season tour.

George, who has been at Chelsea since the age of eight, is one of the most highly regarded youngsters at the club, and has a real opportunity to impress Enzo Maresca on the tour.

The 18-year-old started against Wrexham and made a good impression during his 45 minutes of action and he will be hoping for another opportunity against Celtic on Saturday.

A dream come true

This is George’s first pre-season tour, and Maresca wants to have a look at the youngster before taking a decision on if he’s ready to be part of the first team squad.

The teenager signed a new contract with the Blues last month, which keeps him at the club until 2027 with an option for a further year.

George has been reflecting on the last week, which has seen him appear for the first team and the youngster described it as a dream come true.

“This last week has been a dream come true,” he told Chelsea’s website.

“I have been at Chelsea since I was eight years old so to have the chance to play for the first team for the first time, with players who not long ago I was watching on TV, was so special.”

The attacker made 13 appearances in the under-18 Premier League last season, scoring nine goals and providing six assists, whilst he also scored three goals in ten appearances in the Premier League 2.

George will be looking to continue to impress on tour, and next season could see him make his official debut for his boyhood club, which would no doubt be a very special moment.
