Chelsea could now lose one of their popular first team players as an exclusive report claims that there is a £40m release clause in his current contract at the club.
It’s shock news really because release clauses in contracts is not something you’d usually associate with Chelsea and their own players.

But according to Fabrizio Romano, midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka has a £40m release clause in his Chelsea contract.
Dewsbury-Hall in, Chukwuemeka out?
This is the feel that the Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall signing had for me to be honest. I don’t think Chelsea will actively push to sell Chukwuemeka, but as Romano says in his video above, Chelsea are showing no intention to negotiate any other deal, formula, or price for Chukwuemeka! So no loans. They want to continue with him unless some club arrives with big money or by triggering the £40 million release clause.
For me that sounds like he could very well be sold this summer.
