(Video): Embarrassing moment sums up sleepy Chelsea’s worrying preseason so far

Last night’s 4-1 defeat to Celtic was not great for Chelsea, and one moment stood out as particularly embarrassing.

Wesley Fofana allowed Kyogo Furuhashi to just walk in behind him for a tap in. It was a shocking piece of defending made worse by the fact that his own goalkeeper had spotted the danger and was screaming “WES, MARK!” at him.

As we all know, losing games in preseason is fine – and often means nothing for the season.

But playing this poorly, and with this little concentration and effort, is nothing to do with being less far along in our preparations than our opposition or not being settled in Enzo Maresca’s system yet.
