Chelsea are out in the USA, and they started their tour with a 2-2 draw with Wrexham.
Reece James was one of the most interesting topics. He was used basically as a midfielder in one of the two lineups that the Blues put out, and after the game he spoke to Chelsea TV about how he had felt in that role.
“It suits me,” he admitted.
We’re all in favour of using Reece there, and preseason is just when you want to try these sorts of things out. There are questions about the squad balance though – we’ve finally got to a situation where we’ve got two brilliant options in James and Malo Gusto. Do we really now want to start using Reece in midfield and then need to find another right back?
