Chelsea played their first pre-season friendly of the new campaign in the early hours of this morning and if you’re waking up in the UK today, you will just be catching up with it all.
The Blues drew 2-2 with Wrexham over in the USA as part of their pre-season tour ahead of the new campaign, and it took a late 82nd minute equaliser from Chelsea to even scrape a draw from the game.

Pre-season friendlies are always going to show rust, and there were positives and negatives to take for new head coach Enzo Maresca.

As you can see above, it was midfielder Lesley Ugochukwu who scored Chelsea’s late equaliser with a very tidy left-footed finish slotting it into the side of the goal.
It’s ironic really because Lesley is very unlikely to be in the Chelsea squad this season, with a loan looking very possible.
