“Weirdos honestly!” – Romeo Lavia forced to shut down social media rumour

Chelsea midfielder Romeo Lavia has been forced to take to social media to shut down a strange rumour that was also started on social media on Saturday.

On Saturday, as reported by WAGNH, rumors spread on Twitter that the young midfielder has picked yet another injury. This rumor, which claimed that the injury occurred in a closed-doors friendly against Leeds United, found fertile ground and spread like a weed, eventually coming to the attention of Lavia as well.

EXCLUSIVE! Ben Jacobs Chelsea transfer special: Covering Omorodion, David, Olise alternatives, Summerville, Mitoma, Williams, Adeyemi, Osimhen, Tosin, Gilchrist, Broja, Gallagher, Lukaku, and more…

And so the 20-year-old took to social media as well, to confirm that he is indeed not injured.

Lavia called those who made up such rumours ‘weirdos’ in his posts on X, as you can see further below.

Lavia is not injured

And in fact, there wasn’t even a game against Leeds United. It appears to be an in-house games against the U21s instead, as reported below by a reliable source.

It just goes to show that footballers read a lot on social media and even see the little rumours started by complete random accounts, and then they are forced to shut the rumour down.

To be honest, if I was a professional football I think I would be steering well clear on any social media. You could end up having to shut down silly rumours every other day, and you can also give these people exactly what they wanted by making the rumours in the first place, clicks and attention.

If Lavia, or any other player gets injured at any time, then we will all soon know about by from the club, the player, or from a reliable source. I don’t think the majority of people are going to be listening to some random account on X that they have never heard of before!
