Why Jhon Duran isn’t already a Chelsea player according to latest report

Jhon Duran of Aston Villa was the striker most heavily linked to Chelsea in the early weeks of this window, but it’s all gone a little quiet since then.

Today, the news is filtering through from Football Insider, however, that the move could be reignited.

Their report says that personal terms had been agreed, but the transfer terms between Villa and Chelsea never got sorted. The Blues clearly want a new striker, and so far don’t seem to be able to find anyone who represents better value than the 20 year old.

Jackson is keen to make the move, and a steady tick of sales from our first team is freeing up space for us to operate in the market. There’s plenty of value in being patient, but equally it’s important for the team to have as many signings as possible made early in the window. Last year we had too many players still getting up to speed at the start of the season, and it really cost us some the spring.

Standby – but ready to go

Our overall impression of this move is along the lines of what we heard from a Colombian journalist last week: it’s not over, just on “standby.”

The Blues seem to have agreed the rough outline of a deal with Villa, and are very aware of what they would want to actually give it the green light. Now they’re simply working out what other options are out there, and potentially letting Enzo Maresca work with his group for a while to get to grips with what he wants more specifically too.

We’re not surprised to hear there’s talk of it being reignited, and we will be paying close attention in the next couple of weeks to see what happens next.
