24 players train in Enzo Maresca’s first team whilst 18 banished to train as ‘bomb squad’

Chelsea’s current situation right now is that of complete madness. They still have a huge pool of players and many to sell or loan out before the end of this month.

This has caused some issues, some debates, and many criticism’s from the footballing world, pundits, and the media.

Sources: Chelsea make contact with Liverpool regarding signing one of their players this month!

Everyone has been talking about Chelsea’s massive first team squad, but the reality is that the first team group who are training under Enzo Maresca at Cobham actually only consist of 24, which is a normal size squad for most Premier League sides.

But yes, Chelsea still DO have many players registered to the club even if they do want them sold, and/or plan to loan many out still this window.

There is another 18 players who are training in their own separate group.

Chelsea’s ‘bomb squad’

According to a report from The Daily Mail, this group has been named the ‘bomb squad’ for some reason.

It consists of outcasted players that Chelsea want to sell – player such as Kepa Arrizabalaga, Romelu Lukaku, Trevoh Chalobah, Raheem Sterling, and Ben Chilwell.

Chelsea’s number of excluded does not stop there. The Daily Mail say that as many as 13 must train in a separate group led by loan technical coach Carlo Cudicini. The other eight are David Datro Fofana, Angelo, Lucas Bergstrom, Deivid Washington, Tino Anjorin, Alex Matos, Harvey Vale and, until his transfer away is finalised, Armando Broja too.

That’s a chunk of players there, but at least Maresca doesn’t have to work with a group of that size and has his swuad scaled down to a decent number.
