£300k a week star “could leave Stamford Bridge” this summer along with fellow winger Matt Law claims

News that Chelsea’s move for Samu Omorodion had broken down, and that the Blues were having to switch their attention to fellow Atletico Madrid player Joao Felix to keep the interdependent deal for Conor Gallagher to go the other way alive only broke late last night, but there’s already a huge amount of detail coming out from every insider with knowledge on the situation.

As always, Matt Law of the Daily Telegraph is at the heart of things, and his piece today is really fascinating in explaining how these things could all work. He’s already thinking ahead to how Felix may fit into the squad, and his claim is that a couple of first team starters would have to be moved on right away.

Clearing the decks so we can sign a player so that we can sell a player

Law writes in his piece that Chelsea “may be force to listen to any enquiries for Noni Madueke if Felix re-signs.”

The former PSV winger isn’t the only one. Raheem Sterling would also be on the chopping block, and Law has word of actual concrete interest in him.

Apparently “Juventus have contacted Chelsea” for details on what it would take to sign Sterling.

“There is a sense that the former England international could leave Stamford Bridge before the summer transfer window shuts,” Law adds.

We certainly get the feeling that the sporting directors would love to move Sterling on, but his £300,000 per week wages make it all but impossible to shift him. Unless we’re willing to pay a vast chunk of them, it’s hard to see any club taking him off our hands.

At that point, it would feel like we’re buying Felix and getting rid of Sterling on the cheap just in order to sell Gallagher. At that point, we’re really bending over backwards just to hurt ourselves.
