Chelsea dealt blow with £30m transfer in serious danger of collapsing

Armando Broja’s loan move to Ipswich is in danger of collapsing over paperwork issues which are nothing to do with Chelsea according to reports.

The Blues are facing a busy end to the window as they desperately look to move a number of players on before Friday’s deadline.

Progress has been slow on outgoings but it has picked up in recent weeks with the likes of Conor Gallagher, Diego Moreira and Bashir Humphreys all moving on.

Broja deal could collapse

One player who Chelsea thought they had moved on is Albania international Broja and the Blues had agreed a loan deal with Ipswich which would become permanent for £30m if the Tractor Boys avoid relegation.

However, despite there being an agreement in place the move still hasn’t been finalised and The Guardian have now reported the deal is in serious danger of collapsing.

The report adds this is due to paperwork issues which are nothing to do with Chelsea and although the move isn’t thought to be completely off Ipswich are now exploring alternative options.

It would be a blow for Chelsea as they have been trying to move the Albanian on all summer and he’s not part of Enzo Maresca’s plans, with The Guardian also adding that Everton remain interested and could move for the striker if they can move on Beto or Neal Maupay.

Broja came through the ranks at Chelsea but has struggled to hold down a regular place in the starting line-up and the Blues tried to sell him in January but there were no takers at their reported £50m asking price.

The 22-year-old ended up joining Fulham on loan which was a disaster as he only played 80 minutes of football for Marco Silva’s side.

Despite his struggles at Stamford Bridge and coming back from a major injury there’s still plenty of time for Broja to develop into a good striker and there’s plenty he can offer potential suitors, but Chelsea are now facing a race against time to find an alternative solution if the deal collapses.
