BBC latest: Osimhen transfer fee not an issue, club discussing personal terms now

We are racing towards the transfer deadline now, and there’s still so much work to do at Chelsea.

There are still about 20 players to get rid of on loan or a permanent transfer, but of course the focus of the media (and likely our sporting directors too) remains on the players they can still buy.

With just days left in the window, the elite striker we’ve been hunting unsuccessfully for ever since it became clear that Romelu Lukaku was never coming back has continued to elude us.

Nicolas Jackson is a fine option up top, and proved that last season. That puts Chelsea in a strong bargaining position. They want another striker, sure. But they wouldn’t be totally lost without one, and they know the pressure is increasingly on those who need to sell.

Chief among those are Napoli, who know that Victor Osimhen can walk away for free next summer. After playing hard ball over his price, they now realise there’s perhaps not as much interest as they thought – and certainly not much time to sell him.

Half the battle

In a reverse of what you’d expect in these deals, where the personal terms are just a formality after the haggling over a transfer fee, Nizaar Kinsella is reporting that the fee from Chelsea to Napoli is “unlikely to be an issue,” and in fact it’s Osimhen himself who is the sticking point.

He’s waited years for this big move so he can get a monster contract – but Chelsea are doing all they can to reduce their wage bill. But Kinsella adds there are “other strikers on the shortlist,” adding to the sense that the Blues are actually in a strong bargaining position here.

Unless another team emerges in these next couple of days, Osimhen can either fit into our wage structure or stay at Napoli for another year.

  1. Like I said its better to negotiate with alternatives striker to fit in for Chelsea FC . If he asks for more wages and Chelsea FC can’t give to him hope they trying to get others with is fit in for Chelsea FC structure. Toney / lewin / Duran if they will not asking for high salary . This three are good strikers too and plus they have playing in EPL and they are international players too . Don’t pursue osimhen if he won’t reduce his wage demand .
